About me

My love for photography started when I took a class in college back in the 90's.  It helped me grasp the basic concepts such as light, depth of field and composition on a Pentax K1000 through a series of assignments shooting black and white film.  Also, I got to develop and print my own work in the dark room.

After college I bought my first film SLR and at some point shot for my university sports department.  I got to shoot the rugby team (when I wasn't on the field playing) as well as indoor sports including dek hockey and badminton.

I am the proud father of 4 kids:  Lucas, Amy, Leah and Eva.  Most of my work is with my family whether it's a studio session or outdoor sports.  They do not always cooperate with the camera so I sometimes have to find other stuff to shoot.

I believe that in order to take good pictures one must know its subject.  This applies to sports photography, if you know the sport you can find a good position predict what will happen.  Over the years I have studied multiple martial arts, played rugby, football, cycling, mountain biking and enduro riding.  My kids also play football (go Lions!) so it gives me lots of camera time shooting their teams.

Most of the videos on this site were shot using a simple GoPro and are just good memories.   I just want to share some of my passions other than photography such as camping, hiking or dirt biking.
